During June I visited Oulu, Mikkeli, and I spent Juhannus at Meri Pori with Tommi and his friends.
June seemed to be a difficult month because all the people I met during my first year in Finland finished their stay here and came back home. But fortunately every weekend I had a different plan and that made things quite simpler.
My first summer in Finland began with many sad goodbyes, but full of hope cos we were going to see each other again in Spain. The weather during the summer was not as I expected. It was mostly raining and cloudy with some weird couple of days when the sun was shining.
The first weekend of June I visited Rodolfo and Elise at Oulu. I took the pendolino train in first class (there were only first tickets left everything was sold out) on Friday after work and I came back to Tampere on Sunday. Oulu is not a big city (neither Tampere) but I liked it. On Friday we just had a tasty dinner and on Saturday we walked around the city. By Saturday night (with light as the day) we went to a bar for a couple of beers and after that back home because we wanted to wake up early on Sunday to make the most of my time in Oulu.
During the week I worked really hard, even extra time since I needed to compensate the time I was going to spend in Spain. The second weekend to Markus’ parents cottage in Mikkeli. It was a really great opportunity to relax and to spend time with him and his family. During the weekend we strolled, went fishing, sauna, lake and ate great food.
One of the biggest parties in Finland is midsummer or Juhannus in finnish. Normally on the 25th of June people goes to their summer cottages have a really nice dinner, go to sauna, and of course drink enough. I had the opportunity of join Tommi and his friend to Meri Pori and experience the Finnish midsummer, we went there on Friday morning and came back on Sunday afternoon.
The last weekend of June, I was supposed to go to Sikosaari, an island where annukka’s family has a cottage, but her parents came to Tampere and we stayed here.
